About the Design
This featured kitchen was designed by John Fecke, co-owner of The Kitchen Company, as part of a major renovation to a home overlooking Long Island Sound in Milford, CT.
This house has a unique combination of traditional architectural elements, which are complemented by the transitional cabinetry and contemporary hardware. Despite the striking design elements, the breathtaking view is what initially grabs your attention when you walk in the room. During the renovation, the kitchen and dining areas were oriented to take full advantage of the unobstructed view of the Sound through the large south-facing windows.
“The client wanted a spacious kitchen with fantastic views that could accommodate entertaining family and friends and a large island where the whole family could gather for meals,” explains owner/designer, John Fecke. “Personal additions to the kitchen include a beverage cooler, beer tap and custom breakfast nook— the homeowner’s favorite place for having her morning coffee.”

Stainless-steel appliances, double wall ovens and an induction cooktop fuse the transitional and contemporary elements, completing the polished look and feel of the kitchen.
